Hi, my name is Romy

I perceive life as a grand adventure. After studying communication science, I have lived and worked in six countries across four continents. I am driven by a desire to explore and understand the diverse worlds and ways of life that exist. What motivates us and defines our humanity fascinates me deeply.

Two years ago, I made the decision to leave my job and volunteer in a refugee camp on Samos. This experience vividly exposed the flaws in a system that prioritizes money over people. In search of solutions for a more equitable system, I embarked on a journey through Colombia. Along the way, I had the opportunity to reside with several indigenous tribes, capturing their cultural heritage on film for archival purposes. During this trip I encountered aspects of myself in unexpected places.

I craft narratives that foster connections, delving into the lives of individuals beyond their societal roles. My aim is to bridge the perceived distance between us and those seemingly distant from us. Presently, I am engaged in researching European refugee policy. I strive to recognize the shared pain carried by all parties involved, and I aim to juxtapose these seemingly opposing sides through a lens of universal empathy.

Stories wield immense power; they can incite conflict or facilitate unity. My preference lies in the latter, as I hope to bring people closer together through storytelling.
