In September 2021 the refugees in Samos were moved to a new camp.

The new facility is one of five being built with EU funds. Rights groups have complained that the camp, with its barbed-wire fences and surveillance cameras, is more like a jail. On this day I have documented their first contact moment with their new 'home'. Most families didn't know what to expect or what the new rules in the camp would be. As this wasn't communicated. When they entered the gate with the text 'closed camp' their luggage was ripped apart by security to check. Digital fingerprints were taken. Happy Moving Day!
